Hermes Foundation Joins the Spanish Association of Foundations

Madrid, July 8, 2025 – The Hermes Foundation has been accepted as a member of the Spanish Association of Foundations (AEF) following the unanimous approval of the AEF’s executive committee at its meeting on July 2. With this incorporation, the organization, dedicated to the defense of digital rights, reinforces its commitment to fostering a more active and informed citizenship.

“Being part of the AEF reaffirms our commitment to constructively contribute to the essential role foundations play in building a more equitable, transparent, and participatory society,” emphasized Luisa Alli, General Director of the Hermes Foundation. “We are grateful for the opportunity to be welcomed into this great home of foundations, alongside organizations with such distinguished trajectories,” she added.

The AEF provides its members with a collaborative space, as well as training, advisory and outreach, offering a network of support among organizations. For the Hermes Foundation, this network is an ideal platform from which to strengthen its work in defending digital rights and to promote initiatives that place citizens at the center of technological transformation.

A Step Forward in Digital Rights

Since its inception, the Hermes Foundation has advocated for full recognition and protection of our rights in both the analog and digital realms. It currently co-leads, along with Red.es, the Digital Rights Observatory, acting as a link between participating entities and ensuring compliance with ethical standards in a connected society.

Membership in the AEF will allow the Hermes Foundation to:

  • Share best practices with other foundations committed to innovation and social inclusion.
  • Access training programs and guidance that strengthen impact and transparency.
  • Join efforts in collective projects that promote a safe, accessible, and respectful digital environment.

About the Spanish Association of Foundations

The AEF is the leading organization representing foundations in Spain. With hundreds of member entities, it promotes cooperation and professionalization across the field and acts as a liaison between public administrations and civil society.

Next Steps

In the coming months, the Hermes Foundation will participate in AEF working groups related to technology, transparency, and governance, with the purpose of contributing its expertise and building strategic alliances with like-minded organizations.

“We are convinced that by joining forces, we can build a stronger, more supportive society committed to digital rights,” concluded Luisa Alli.

With this new chapter, the Hermes Foundation reaffirms its mission: to ensure that the technological revolution advances without leaving anyone behind and with full respect for the rights of all people.
