Projects

Promoting Digital Rights Literacy for Including Citizens

Project Prolific

Prolific is the result of cooperation between the Hermes Foundation (Spain), the Dr. José Lourenço Júnior Foundation (Portugal), the Margherita Cooperative (Italy), Polibienestar-Universitat de València (Spain), and KVeloce (Spain).
Cyber scams, grooming, fake news, hate speech and harassment are linked to the digitization of European societies. Vulnerable groups such as the elderly, people with disabilities and migrants suffer disproportionately from attacks on their digital rights. To develop tailored solutions, these organizations conducted focus groups with people from these groups and their educators, identifying their main needs. Based on these results, the Hermes Foundation created specific software and content, tested and improved before its final evaluation by KVeloce.

Objectives

To address social problems arising from digitalization such as cyber scams, bullying and fake news, which disproportionately affect vulnerable groups such as older people, migrants, and people with mental disabilities.

Participants

  • Fundación Hermes (España)

Actions

Fundação Dr. José Lourenço Júnior, Cooperativa Margherita and Polibienestar-Universitat de València developed focus groups involving dozens of people from vulnerable groups and their educators. They mapped their most frequent needs and the difficulties they experience. Based on what emerged from these groups, Fundacion Hermes developed the software and specific contents. The results were tested by educators and their groups in the three countries of origin of the driving organisations. Finally, they were evaluated by Kveloce, an independent R&D&I consultancy. The final result is the content that you can download on this platform.
