María Moya and Elena Herrero-Beaumont
How does the advent of artificial intelligence affect women? Is it a threat or an opportunity for them?
The Digital Rights Podcast brings you a very special episode, in which we bring together two leading women from the Hermes Foundation. Elena Herrero-Beaumont, Doctor of Law, director of Ethosfera, and member of the board of trustees of the Hermes Foundation, is joined today by María Moya, Doctor of Communication, co-founder and CEO of Prodigioso Volcán, and member of the Hermes advisory board.
Together, they analyze the future of women in a world where AI is broadened. Moya advocates for “inclusive, diverse, ethical, and creative” AI, supported by a “more equitable and fair corporate culture.” As our experts point out, women have traditionally been relegated to the sidelines in the development of AI, and it is necessary to promote STEM professions among young women, leading to a complete change in the educational model.
But let's not stop there. Many women see AI as a threat rather than a tool. That is why Herrero-Beaumont defends the place of women “in decision-making spaces,” where they can act as a counterweight to AI developed and nominated by men.
Without forgetting issues such as sexual deepfakes, assistants with female voices, or the application of AI in the workplace, both advocate for positive speculation. AI should not serve to increase digital divides, but to build and imagine other possibilities.
